This is an interesting article published in Scientific American on "The expert mind"

It analyses the different perspectives on the performance of experts versus average performers. The test bed used is chess, although I'm sure Go/Baduk would be just as good and interesting.

I had suspected the existence of some sort of structures used in memorising, either patterns or templates...
